Fleetwood ex-Trawler 'Jacinta' visits Warrenpoint
Jacinta
I took these snaps in 2009 when the ex-Trawler 'Jacinta' visited Warrenpoint during the Annual 'Blues on the Bay' festival. It holds the record as the highest earning trawler ever to sail from UK waters. Its home port is my home town, Fleetwood. Today it is manned by a volunteer crew of 16 ex-seamen from Fleetwood, and sailed to about 6 maritime festivals annually. At the end of its fishing days, it was laid up, ready to scrap. A pound secured its purchase, and it was renovated. My father would have worked with many of the present volunteer crew. It is open to visitors in Fleetwood dock.
