Day trip to Newcastle and back
Myself and Daithi Rodgers ( ex-'Ares' and now owner of the Westerly Pembroke 'Pembroke Dawn') headed from Warrenpoint to Newcastle to pick up and bring back my wooden clinker dinghy.
A great sail up the coast, with a few hairy moments, landed us in Newcastle mid-afternoon. We had a two hour wait for the tide, caught no fish, slept, ate and a then secured the dinghy.
The wind eased considerably, and it was a motor sail back to Warrenpoint, in beautiful weather. A round trip of 65 nautical miles.
