Walter and Daithi sailed to Newcastle on July 4th to take collection of a dinghy for Zig Zag.
Leaving Carlingford Lough approaching Hellyhunter buoy
Cooley mountains behind us
Hawlbowline Lighthouse in Lough entrance
...and now safely behind us.....
Carlingford Lough and Hellyhunter buoy safely behind us...
The Mournes, Slieve Donard and Newcastle in the distance, beer can approaching...
....anchored off Newcastle...hoping for fish....
Newcastle harbour ahead.....
.....still hoping for fish....
nearly caught......but it fell off the hook...
Checking the anchor....
....approaching Newcastle harbour....
...anchor safely hauled....
...take her in Daithi.....
Slieve Donard in the background....
...dinghy safely in tow....Warrenpoint bound.....
Approaching Mullartown Point, near Annalong...
...looking for fish......still....
....dinghy...aka...'Zag Zig'...still safely in tow....
...homeward bound...Leestone point, north of Kilkeel...
.........5 nautical miles from Hellyhunter on the way back........
.....sunset...and no more photos.....
26 nautical miles outward bound.....great sail with mainsail and jib, 5.2 knts average, top speed 7.9 knts, stayed well off due to leeward wind, and Centaur's strong desire to sail to windward. Some great surfing and sailing on a broad reach.
Return journey motored, wind full on nose, took a closer line inshore and 18 nautical miles saw us to Warrenpoint, 4.2 knts average speed.. Berthed at 0015 - 2 hrs and 15 minutes after High Water. Where next, Daithi ???
and Daithi was hanging too...
